News18 reports Pakistani fraud complaint involving relative of B.C. candidate Zeeshan Wahla

The report describes a PKR 30 million allegation against a man it identifies as Wahla’s brother. It does not present evidence that the Surrey City Centre candidate took part.

News18 reported on a Pakistani police complaint naming Muhammad Adnan Asmat Wahla and his wife in alleged financial misconduct involving approximately 30 million Pakistani rupees. The publication identified Adnan Wahla as the brother of Conservative Party of B.C. candidate Zeeshan Wahla, citing unnamed intelligence sources for that relationship.

The News18 account, published October 21, says a complainant alleged that Adnan Wahla received funds and later offered land instead of repayment. The complainant also alleged that documents for the land were forged and that demands for repayment were met with threats. These are allegations reported from a complaint, not findings of wrongdoing.

What the report does—and does not—say

News18 puts the amount at about PKR 30 million and says the complaint names Adnan Wahla and his wife. The report does not present evidence that Zeeshan Wahla handled the funds, participated in the alleged transactions or made the alleged threats.

The publication refers to him as a candidate for “Surrey Central.” Elections BC’s final candidate list gives the riding name as Surrey City Centre.

Where the record stands

A police complaint records accusations; it does not establish that a crime occurred. This publication has not independently reviewed an authenticated copy of the complaint, financial records, or responses from the people it names. Any assessment of the allegations requires those records and an opportunity for the people involved to respond.

Readers can examine the original News18 report and the official candidate list. We will update this page if verified records or on-the-record responses materially change the account.
